Je suis également membre de la Plateforme Nationale SRMNEA-N dans le cadre du Mécanisme de Financement Mondial (GFF), coordonnée par le Ministère de la Santé et de l’Action Sociale et Secrétaire Générale Adjointe de la Coalition des Organisations de la Société Civile sur le Global Financing Facility (COSC GFF).
Je milite aussi au Réseau Ouest-africain des Leaders Emergents des Politiques et Systèmes de Santé (WANEL) dans les 15 pays de la CEDEAO. Actuellement, je travaille en tant que Chargée de Communication et de Plaidoyer au Centre Régional de Formation, de Recherche et de Plaidoyer en Santé de la Reproduction (CEFOREP) à Dakar, pour appuyer les résultats de la recherche sur les politiques de santé sexuelle et reproductive au Sénégal. Dans le cadre de la communication pour le changement social et de comportement, j’interviens sur les violences basées sur le genre (VBG) et la Santé Sexuelle et Reproductive des Adolescent(e)s/Jeunes. Musa Ansumana Soko is a highly accomplished advocate and influencer with over 17 years of experience, dedicated to driving positive change in Sierra Leone. In his capacity as the Team Lead for WASH Network Sierra Leone, Musa spearheads a diverse portfolio of programs addressing critical issues such as social accountability, post-conflict health, and equitable access to improved drinking water and sanitation services. He further leads the Health Accountability Consortium, a partnership of the Budget Advocacy Network, Health Alert, and WASH-Net, uniting their efforts for impactful change.

Musa’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the health and well-being of Sierra Leoneans is further exemplified by his role as the co-convener of the Sierra Leone UHC CSO Platform. Through this platform, he leverages his extensive experience and expertise to drive progress towards Universal Health Coverage, ensuring that quality healthcare services are accessible to all segments of society.

With his comprehensive understanding of the complex social, health, and development challenges that Sierra Leone faces, Musa designs workable advocacy interventions that seeks to influence policy and practices for stronger health systems.

Oyeyemi Pitan is a strong advocate for the wellbeing of everyone especially that of women, children and adolescents everywhere, leaving no one behind. She is the Founder and Executive Director at Gem Hub Initiative; a non-profit organization equipping young people with the tools they need in attaining a state of total well-being. She is concerned about the state of Health, Education and Empowerment in Nigeria and Africa at large. She therefore sensitizes young people leveraging all forms of media, particularly social media.

With background in Economics and Accounting, Oyeyemi is able to appreciate issues in resource allocation and optimization when it comes to health, education and wellbeing of citizens, particularly that of adolescents. This explains her advocacy in health financing, budget monitoring and accountability, which she does so passionately with all the platforms she is privileged to serve.

Oyeyemi is a CSOs Representative on Global Financing Facility Investors Group, she is the immediate past Youth Focal Point to the GFF Civil Society Coordinating Group in Nigeria and a member of the PMNCH Accountability Working Group. In Nigeria, she is the State Public Relations Officer for Association of Orphans and vulnerable Children NGOs (AONN).

John Eliasu Mahama is a public health and community development practitioner with over 15 years professional experience. John works as the Deputy Director for Partnerships Coordination at Ghana AIDS Commission (GAC) where he develops and nurtures relationships to further the mission and goals of GAC. John is an active member of the People’s Health Movement (PHM) Ghana where he has been involved in advocacy for the right to health and action on social determinants of health since 2010.
John previously worked with the Millennium Promise Alliance, from 2013 to 2022, where he coordinated health programmes in West and Central Africa, and provided technical support to country teams. Mahama holds an MSc degree in International Health from the University College London and a Master of Research and Public Policy (MRPP) from the University of Ghana.

J’ai à mon actif plus de 15 ans d’expériences professionnelles en tant qu’Ingénieur Planificateur Économiste, Spécialisé dans le Financement de Santé, grâce à mes dix (10) années d’expérience passées au Ministère de la Santé sur l’analyse du financement de la Santé, en aidant à la production de la stratégie du financement de la Santé au Bénin et à l’élaboration des Comptes de Santé. Au cours de ces quatre (4) dernières années, j’ai cultivé plus d’expertise dans le financement de la santé plus spécifiquement pour des questions liées à l’Assurance Maladie pour la marche vers la Couverture Sanitaire Universelle au Bénin et dans d’autres pays (Ghana, Bostwona, Burkina Faso, Namibie, Ouganda etc) à travers le partage d’expérience avec les acteurs. Au cours de cette période, j’ai occupé le poste de Responsable en Financement de la Santé, pour le compte de l’Organisation Internationale « Result For Development (RAD) » sous le financement de l’USAID et précisément sur les Projets African Collaboratif for Health Financing Solution (Projet ACS Bénin/USAID) puis Health Systems Strengthening Accelerator (Projet HSSA Benin/USAID). J’ai travaillé sur toutes les questions relatives à l’analyse du financement de la santé dans le cadre de l’assistance technique que le projet a apporté au Bénin pour la mise en œuvre de la phase pilote et la phase de généralisation de l’Assurance Maladie de l’ARCH. je travaille avec les communautés à besoins spécifiques ( réfugiés , déplacés , rapatriés, populations clés)depuis 2010 avec une réorientation depuis Juin 2019 sur les enjeux de plaidoyer pour l’amélioration des financements de la santé dans mon pays, à ce titre donc j’occupe le poste de Chargée de plaidoyer, point Focal Banques et Institution à ASAPSU dans le département Du Partenariat Stratégiques & du Plaidoyer. Dans le cadre de la COVID, j’ai Fourni un appui aux organisations de la société civile dans le plaidoyer pour la répartition du budget de la santé en tenant compte des autres soins de santé primaires en dehors de l’urgence sanitaire du moment. J’ai fait un sondage qui a permis de demander aux gouvernements le renforcement de la sensibilisation pour la fréquentation des centres de santé. Je suis Consultante formateur régionale dans le cadre de la JLA : A ce titre, j(apporte un appui technique aux organisations de la société civile de la Cote d’ivoire sur le plaidoyer et la CSU (Couverture Sanitaire Maladie),j’accompagne la dynamique de l’implication des acteurs de la société civile sur la CSU, Travailler avec les institutions telles que le Fonds mondial, Gavi, R4D pour présenter la situation du pays, Rencontrer des autorités du pays pour faire le suivi des actions en lien avec la CSU. j’ai piloté une étude sur les mécanismes de financements des urgences sanitaires mis en place par la Banque mondiale ( PEF & HERPF) ce qui nous a conduit à la création d’un observatoire continental. Chris Alando is a macroeconomist with experience in both the public and private sectors. He has worked with client governments, corporates, partners, parliaments and Civil Society in 76 countries since 1996. In 2004, he was awarded by the World Bank Institute for his contributions to macroeconomic policy and theory. He has helped review health sector and HIV strategies in 47 countries. He received his economics/statistics and French degree in 1999 from Moi and Kenyatta Universities and post graduate qualifications in Macroeconomic Management and Policy from the World Bank Institute, Washington DC in 2003. He also holds an MBA from USIU (Africa)/ Solbridge (South Korea), and other business certifications from Harvard Business School (US). He was lead consultant for East Africa’s Sustainable UHC Financing Strategy 2018-2023. He previously consulted at the Office of The President and Office of the Prime Minister in Kenya and was an advisor to Ministries responsible for Finance and Ministries responsible for Health in the 16-member country Southern African Development Community. He is the current CEO of Globesolute Corporation. He is fluent in Kiswahili, English, French, Luo and reads Portuguese.

I am interested in this course because , I know that in my country Liberia no one should have to decide between seeking health and buying food and as such we need to improve financial sustainability of the health sector if we are to address the catastrophic out of pocket health expenditure and ensure universal health coverage for all. I believe that we need to establish a more reliable and predictable financing mechanisms for health through a national health insurance scheme and tax reforms, improving efficiency, and using limited resources as effectively as possible. Thus this course will give me the knowledge , skills and network to support my country in addressing this key health policy area – health financing reform.

Learning about health financing will broaden my understanding on the fore mentioned topic, thus making it useful in sharpening the advocacy work I have been engaging on health financing.

“Health Financing has undertaken major reforms in low and middle income countries due to progressive decrease in donor contribution towards health budget of the respective countries including Tanzania. This has called the government and society to thrive towards universal health coverage in order to ensure equity in health service access by all citizens.
Therefore participating in the ToT course will enrich my skills and knowledge towards UHC approaches and how they can be applied in my country. This is an opportunity for diversification of knowledge and enriches the approaches and strategies to promote quality health service access for all in my country.
Furthermore, this training will open up the opportunities to learn from other African countries especially those doing well in UHC and transfer lessons to my country while also sharing with other countries.

I would like to learn the whole budgeting process, when and how to influence. I would also like to understand if there are any commitments apart from the Abuja declaration and the Paris agreement around budgeting. I would like to learn from other participants.

The TOT on health financing will offer an opportunity for me to share with wider participants on Malawi health financing and build more capacity for participants to advocate for health financing in the attainment of UHC in Malawi and globally.

I am interested to participate in the training hoping that I will get the knowledge and skill to evaluate the health care financing system of my country, to enable recommend feasible interventions to have a functional system.

A very fast-growing population, poverty, very huge disease burden, emerging health problems, frequent epidemics and often very poor infrastructure and lack of responsive health system are among the challenges for the HCF and overall health budgeting. Besides these, a weak health care financing reforms, donor dependent budgeting and poor understanding of the HCF reform implementation are major concerns that I believe need attention.
In this regard, I interested to review and understand the global concepts of health care financing, experiences of various regions of the world and want to support my country’s health system by providing capacity building trainings, integrate my previous knowledge and experience of evidence synthesis to conduct various reviews regarding HCF and avail evidences for decision makers on HCF. Above all, I want to use this opportunity to develop my professional views through this training process and contribute to this area of knowledge.

I am currently in the health financing and specifically in an organization that is focused on strategic health purchasing and our mandate is to support and advocate for changes across sub-suharan africa. I did not have prior experience in this sector but in the one year I have worked as the program analyst, I have come to appreciate the dynamics of what it takes to achieve Universal Health Coverage which I am very passionate about. I want to empower civil society activists and grassroot organizations to engage meaningfully with policy makers and public officials in health programing, budgeting, financing and overall transparency and accountability in the health sector

I have recently submitted my PhD thesis in public health policy. As an expert in policy these skills will help me support CSOs, my students and ministry of health in the health sector financing reforms in the country. I am also a member of the technical working for the health sector in Uganda on, Governance, supervision and regulation. This equips me to make solid inputs in the national policy processes.
