Thank You for Making UHC Day 2023 a Success!

UHC Advocates:

The United Nations High-Level Meeting on Universal Health Coverage, held on 21 September 2023, reaffirmed that healthy people are the foundation of healthy societies and economies and that UHC is central to achieving all of the Sustainable Development Goals. In the lead-up to UHC Day 2023, we asked you to call on your leaders to act on these commitments.

We’re thrilled to share the energy, momentum, and commitment from the #HealthForAll community: Thank you for making UHC Day 2023 such a success! With dozens of high-level UHC champions, 100+ UHC events and counting, and a flagship town hall event, 12.23.23 has been an exciting milestone for our community to rally together to support health systems that leave no one behind.

On 11 December, we kicked off UHC Day efforts with the town hall event, “Shaping Our Health Future: Young Leaders and Parliamentarians Unite for UHC.”

During this exciting event, we opened with an inspiring message from Dr. Tedros, Director General, WHO. Then, youth advocates engaged with parliamentarians from Ireland, Tanzania, Mexico, Egypt, and Turkey about how we can achieve #HealthForAll by 2030. Gabriela Cuevas Barrón, Co-Chair of the UHC2030 Steering Committee, closed the session with a call to use the UHC Day advocacy letter to urge parliamentarians to enact UHC in every country.

You can find the recording of the town hall event here.

Thank you for your commitment to a world where health is a right for all, not a privilege for a few.

Remember: While every year on 12.12, we come together to advocate for access to essential health services without financial hardship, people also need health coverage the other 364 days of the year. Let’s keep up our advocacy efforts! We invite you to continue using our resources, including  the UHC Day toolkit and the new UHC advocacy letter webpage, and to sign up for the UHC Day Updates newsletter. You can also find us @UHC_Day on X.
